OverviewYou can breed the Boxer dog with just about any other type of dog breed. With protest from PETA, there are even Boxer Chihuahua mixes. (This is obviously dangerous due to the Chihuahua being the smallest breed in the world).
While many some Boxer lovers make the argument that cross breeding should not take place in order to maintain the integrity of the Boxer breed, some Boxer mixes are becoming very well known.
Some of the Boxer mixed breeds are so popular; they have even established their own names even though they are not recognized as a dog breed.
The Bull Boxer (or Bulloxer)
The Bull Boxer is a common mixed Boxer breed. This is also spelled as Bullboxer or a shortened
: Bulloxer. This Boxer mixed breed was not common enough to have a name until the early 1990’s.
Currently, any Boxer that is mixed with any type of Bulldog breed (such as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, English Bulldog or American Bulldog) is called a Bull Boxer.
The mixed Boxer breed of the Bull Boxer is controversial. Some Boxer breeders object to the increase of the Bull Boxer saying it is a bad mix, while others love it.
The Bull Boxer is currently only recognized by ACHC, (American Canine Hybrid Club) as the Bulloxer.
Chow Chow Boxer
The Chow-Chow Boxer is, of course, a cross between a Boxer dog and a Chow-Chow. What type of puppy is produced from this type of breeding? The dog will usually have a long, lean body with a large lion-like head and black snout. The colors will vary, this example being an auburn and black mix with a weight of 50 lbs (22.7 kg)
Golden Boxer
The Golden Boxer is a Boxer mixed breed between a Golden Retriever and a Boxer dog. The appearance of this mix will vary greatly. This dog had a purebred Golden Retriever mother and purebred fawn Boxer.
